How to Include the Non-Drinker | Part One
You're hosting a party (yay), and you've thought of the food, the drinks, the activities, the guests, the music, the whole nine. GO YOU!
But then, you're friend walks in and you offer her a drink. She politely says "No thank you, do you have anything alcohol-free?" And you offer her a Sprite...
She doesn't hate you--relax, it's not the end of the world. But it does just suck a little bit. All her friends are drinking that delicious margarita and she's sipping Sprite from a can. She's fine. But she could be better.
Let's just fast forward, you've read this blog post, and you know all the things now.
Your friend walks in and you offer her a drink, "Do you want a spicy grapefruit margarita, with tequila or without? It's so good, you're gonna love it!"
Now she's walking around with her margarita and so are the others and she feels included.
You silently pat yourself on the back and we're celebrating you over here at Marnie Rae cheering "YOU DID IT! YOU GO GLEN COCOA! PROUD OF YOU KID!"
By simply offering your guests a couple of options, you've opened the door to make everyone feel more included.
