I'm coming up on my 3 month blogging anniversary, May 14th. It's been a learning experience for sure in so many ways and it's been quite a challenge too. But I find myself thinking about it...a lot. What to write about, pictures, people, interesting topics, how to connect you with each other, fun experiences - it seems to be on my brain all the time. When exciting or tragic things happen, or when I see or hear about things that make me think, my brain goes to "ooh, I bet the Tribe would love to know about this". I'm guessing that's a sign that I've come across something that is feeding my soul.
Now that we've kind of settled in, I would love to share my ideas with you. After all, this blog is really about us so who better to help with the direction and the vision than "us". I'd like to try some fun things over the course of the summer and then once school starts in the fall we'll get a little more serious about this "getting out of your comfort zone" thing.
Here are some visions that are percolating:
Tuesday Tales - My regular blog post is each Thursday but I am reserving Tuesdays especially for you. This week you got to read a personal essay written by one of our Tribe, if you didn't get to read it I suggest you take the time, it's a good one! The link is here. Are you ready to share a little bit of you yet? Send me an e-mail and let me know, I'd love to provide you with the support and the space to do that.
Kind Tribe virtual book club - super informal, read the book, have a casual discussion about it online (or maybe a meet-up). I find that books are a great way to connect with people. In fact, this idea came to mind because I have a book waiting patiently for me, I am so excited to read it but I'm a little disappointed that I don't have anyone to compare notes with. It's also a great way to challenge yourself and learn - read something out of your normal genre.
Virtual Learning - sometimes we don't know what we don't know right? So I'm excited to present you with some opportunities to learn something new. Photography, business, writing, fitness, meditation, nutrition, style...you never know what's going to strike a chord with you until you try it. I've got women on board just waiting to share their knowledge and their passion with us. Some free webinars, some interviews, some paid courses - we've got lots of good stuff in the works. I know that there are some of you in the Tribe that are excited about what you know and what you do, would you be willing to share it with us?
Challenges - Maybe what you learned in the Virtual Learning courses really sparked an interest but you want to know a little more...every now and then we will coordinate a challenge to take what you've learned to another level. An opportunity for you to be all in but for a short period of time. Baby steps right? Some challenges will start at 10 days, some might be a bit longer, this will be a place where you can try something new in a safe place and be encouraged and supported along the way. This also gives you the opportunity to share your struggles and compare notes with the rest of the group that is participating in the challenge. The hard things are always a bit easier (and definitely more fun) if you've got someone traveling alongside you.
Kind Tribe Love - Technology is amazing, we don't have to be neighbors to come together and work towards a common goal - we can live thousands of miles away from each other and still form a community that makes a difference. Someone out there needs our help and we are going to give it to them. Maybe we'll auction off our crafty wares or art to help a local family in need, maybe we'll coordinate a day (virtually) where we come together to provide service to our local community, or maybe we'll accept a fitness challenge to raise money for a cause of our choosing. The opportunities are endless. I would love to hear your suggestions for Kind Tribe Love.
Kind Tribe Girls - I believe with my whole heart that if the young women in our community could find the courage to be themselves, to explore the things they love, and to learn to lead by example, then maybe they wouldn't need to "look for love in all the wrong places" or be mean. I would love to bring a program or 'club' to our schools to help our young women find their courage and their kindness.
Kind Tribe Retreats - maybe a day, maybe a weekend...this one gets me really excited:) Zip lining? Mountain biking? Writing? Hmmm...this one has my brain spinning, so many fun things we could do here to get out of our comfort zones and do a little self-study.
As you can see I don't spend very much time thinking about all of you and I really don't aspire to much <insert sarcasm here>;) Some of these ideas are already in the works and will come soon, some are waaayyyy out in the picture, they are tucked away safely for now. I've said it many times but I know this Tribe can make an impact in our world and truly we are off to a better start than I ever imagined. I've seen proof that the kindness and examples of courage in our Tribe have inspired, encouraged, and supported others to feed their souls and take the next step...it's working:) xoxo
I can't do this without any of you, I'm so glad you're along for the ride.
Will you either comment below or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know if any of this gets you excited or if there is something else you would like to see, learn, or do?
With courage, kindness, and lots of mad love for our Tribe,
